I have a story to share that will demonstrate to you it’s importance.
I’m a skydiver. During my first few skydives (75 or so) my shoes kept coming untied during free fall, even with double knots. Landing with your shoes untied could be a hazard to your health by tripping over the laces, which happens.
As soon as I had learned how to tie my shoes the right way (I stumbled across this video in 2009), not one time since, have my shoes come untied during a skydive (and no more PIA double knots to untangle). Bonus: neither do my dress shoes with round nylon laces…
As a skydiving instructor, I now teach my students “how to tie their shoes properly.” While it seems awkward at first, I know this lesson alone could save their life or at least save them from a broken bones.
